What You Will Do
- Program, set up, and operate CNC milling center to perform multiple machining and cutting operations. May operate automatically or manually. Performs the job of CNC mill operator in its entirety, as needed.
- Set up and operate machine at correct feeds and speeds, following standard operating procedures, producing good pieces within specified quality control limits as per blueprints, process plans, holding fixtures, location diagrams, etc.
- Load work and control tape and trial runs jobs.
- Manually program machine.
- As inspection of parts indicate, take corrective action and reposition, as required, to produce within specifications.
- Receive direction from foreman or leader.
Specific Duties
- Prior to operating CNC milling center, move parts away from machine for pickup by material handler.
- Check to see that there is sufficient stock to proceed and that stock is correct for parts to be run.
- Ensure product quality meets and/or exceeds specifications.
- Participate in operator training programs as a trainee or the trainer.
Set Up
- Obtain all necessary tooling called for on layout sheet.
- Obtain correct drawings and specifications from department office.
- Remove old set up.
- Following prescribed procedure, install new tooling to operate mill center at specified feeds and speeds, and to produce work of quality specifications.
- Remove finished pieces and install material, as needed.
- Make test run and check dimensions against drawing specifications.
- Obtain verification of test results from foreman or leader.
Other Duties
- Inspect and gauge parts at intervals determined by foreman for that particular job.
- Detect and report faulty machine operation, defective material and equipment, drawing discrepancies, and other unusual conditions to foreman.
- Oil and grease machine, replace coolant, and replace tooling, as required.
- Maintain workplace area in a neat and orderly condition on a daily basis, and perform a general machine and work area cleanup once a week.
- Keep machine free of chips.
- Make out time, production, and quality reports, as necessary.
- Collaborate with operators from other shifts to transmit and exchange information pertinent to work at hand.
- Observe all safety regulations in all duties performed.
- Perform all other duties, as required.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Tool & Die Makers Certificate or 5 years (min) Tool Room Experience.
Physical Requirements
- Visual acuity for detailed work.
- Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30-40 lbs from floor to waist.
