Job description

Shape precision parts. Optimize cycle time. Own the mill.

At D&E Machining, you’ll take customer prints from concept to reality on our CNC mills. Whether you prefer first shift or second shift, you’ll run production safely and accurately, edit programs to improve outcomes, and collaborate with a team that values efficiency and craftsmanship. A substantial shift differential is offered for second shift.

A day in this role

You’ll begin by reviewing the traveler and print, loading or editing programs at the control, selecting tooling, and setting up your workholding. As parts run, you’ll verify dimensions, make offsets, and continuously look for ways to reduce cycle time without compromising quality. You’ll document inspection results, communicate any quality concerns, and keep your area clean and safe. When needed, you’ll pitch in on maintenance tasks and help onboard new operators.

What you’ll do
  • Upload and download programs at the machine control; edit to achieve optimal results and efficiencies.
  • Set up and operate assigned CNC milling equipment; 5-axis CNC milling experience is a plus.
  • Machine parts to print, holding required tolerances and surface finishes.
  • Maintain tooling inventory at the machine and request replacements proactively.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections; fill out inspection logs, travelers, and time slips.
  • Mark material for deposition and ensure proper delineation of scrap.
  • Deburr and remove sharp edges effectively.
  • Communicate quality concerns; participate in team and business updates.
  • Assist with machine maintenance as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Assist in training new operators as needed.
  • Participate in ISO-9001 through continuous improvement training.
  • Perform material handling as required when a move person is not available.
  • Keep the machine area organized, clean, and safe; perform other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of CNC milling experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and use micrometers, calipers, and other precision metrology tools; CMM experience is desirable.
  • Solid shop math skills, including working with fractions and decimals.
Physical demands
  • Frequent walking and standing; occasional reaching above shoulders.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Close and color vision required.
Work environment
  • Indoor shop environment with moderate to loud noise; work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Safety glasses and safety shoes required at all times.
  • Regular interaction with teammates and customers.
Schedule and employment type
  • Full-Time: 1st & 2nd Shift, 40 hours Monday–Thursday, plus overtime as needed.
  • Part-Time: 1st & 2nd Shift with flexible hours Monday–Thursday.
  • Work Location: In person.
Compensation and perks
  • Competitive wages, benefits, and a profit-sharing plan.
  • Clean, well-organized, ISO-driven environment.
  • Substantial shift differential for second shift employees.
