Job summary

Randstad USA partners with an established precision manufacturer to hire an experienced CNC Lead Programmer. This senior, technical leadership role requires expert Mastercam programming for multi-axis milling, optimization of toolpaths, robust fixture design, and mentoring of shop-floor setup machinists.

Qualifications

• 5+ years dedicated programming experience using Mastercam for CNC milling.
• Lead Programmer, Senior Programmer, or Machining Team Lead experience mentoring shop floor personnel.
• Strong understanding of multi-axis CNC mills (3/4/5-axis) and controls (Fanuc, Haas, Heidenhain).
• Proficient in GD&T, blueprint reading, cutting tool geometries, feeds/speeds and metrology.
• Ability to diagnose tooling wear, surface finish issues and dimensional variances quickly.

Responsibilities

• CAM programming: create, verify and post-process 2D/3D and multi-axis toolpaths using Mastercam for various milling centers.
• Lead on the floor, assist setup technicians and operators with first-article prove-outs and troubleshooting.
• Continuously optimize cycle times, tool life, speeds, feeds to reduce scrap and boost throughput.
• Design fixtures, soft jaws and workholding; select tools and holders for tight tolerances.
• Interpret solid models (STEP/IGES/SolidWorks) and drawings to ensure GD&T compliance.

This is a senior, technical leadership position designed for an expert programmer who can program complex parts from scratch using Mastercam, optimize toolpaths, design robust workholding fixtures, and mentor setup machinists on the shop floor.

Qualifications & Experience

• Mastercam Mastery: 5+ years of dedicated programming experience using Mastercam specifically for CNC milling machines.
• Leadership Track Record: Prior experience serving as a Lead Programmer, Senior Programmer, or Machining Team Lead with a history of mentoring shop floor personnel.
• Machine Competency: Comprehensive understanding of multi-axis CNC mills (3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis platforms, Fanuc/Haas/Heidenhain controls).
• Technical Aptitude:Command of GD&T, blueprint reading, cutting tool geometries, feeds/speeds calculations, and precision measurement tools.
• Problem Solving: Ability to identify root causes of tooling wear, surface finish issues, and dimensional variances quickly and effectively. ZPMLSTCM

salary: $104,000 - $124,799.97 per year

Responsibilities

• CAM Programming: Create, verify, and post-process efficient 2D, 3D, and multi-axis toolpaths using Mastercam primarily for CNC vertical, horizontal, and 5-axis milling centers.
• Shop Leadership & Mentorship: Act as the lead technical resource on the floor, assisting setup technicians and operators with first-article prove-outs, troubleshooting machining anomalies, and refining processes.
• Process & Toolpath Optimization: Continuously evaluate cycle times, tool life, speeds, and feeds to reduce scrap, optimize machine run times, and maximize throughput.
• Fixturing & Tooling Design: Design custom fixtures, soft jaws, and workholding components; select optimal cutting tools and holders for tight-tolerance aerospace, medical, and tech components.
• Blueprint & Model Interpretation: Work directly from solid models (STEP, IGES, SolidWorks) and engineering drawings to ensure full compliance with tight tolerances and strict GD&T specifications.
