Component Repair Technologies is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machinist Technician to manufacture turbine engine components to OEM specs in Mentor, OH. You will run CNC mills, verify dimensions, read drawings, and work within a close-knit team in a climate-controlled facility.

Qualifications

• Five plus years of experience in operating CNC Milling equipment, in job shop or MTO environments.
• First article inspection experience and strong print reading skills.
• GD&T and critical dimensioning knowledge with rework experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety policies and procedures.
• Read instructions and inspect parts using gauges and tools to determine material removal.
• Operate CNC mills to achieve required dimensions and load/unload parts during setup.
• Use inspection gauges, micrometers, calipers and comparators to verify dimensions.
• Identify and correct machining problems related to tools, holders, and fixturing.
• Accurately record findings on work instructions and documentation.
• Perform finishing operations such as deburring, tapping, honing, and bench work.
• Participate in training (OJT) for various machinist levels.

JOB SUMMARY

The position of an experienced CNC Milling Machinist Technician is designed for a knowledgeable and skilled individual in multiple fields of machining. This position is responsible for the CNC Machining of turbine engine components to achieve specified dimensions. Our customers are worldwide leaders in the fields of aerospace and marine industry sectors of turbine engine power. The final product must conform to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.

This position is a part of a large Machining Department comprised of CNC VTL, Mill, Grind and Manual Mill and VTL, Tool & Die, R&D, CNC Programming and dedicated machinist trainers. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of experienced and professional machinists that will allow for continuous interaction of techniques, skill knowledge, print reading and interpretation of technical drawings.

The position performs its primary functions in a climate-controlled and modern state-of-the-art facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
2. Follow both written and verbal work instructions, use approved gauges and tools to inspect parts to determine required material removal using tooling, speeds, feeds and coolants. May require setting gauges to approved master gauges.
3. Operate machines to remove material to achieve required dimensions prior to the application of coatings, after application of finish coatings, or to establish part features. The loading and unloading parts are a part of the set-up.
4. Dimensional accuracy may require the use of inspection gauges, comparator, micrometers, calipers, and miscellaneous hand tools.
5. Identifies and corrects machining problems relative to tools, holders, collets and chucks.
6. Accurately record findings on provided work instructions and documentation.
7. Perform finishing operations when required, such as deburring, tapping, honing, and bench work.
8. From time-to-time, participate in the training process and offer expertise in the OJT program for various levels of machinist technicians.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Five plus years of experience in operating CNC Milling equipment. (Such as, but not limited to: Johnford DMC, VMC, BMC)
   1. Job shop type environment.
   2. MTO – made to order environment.
   3. First article experience.
2. Five plus years of experience in creative problem solving on:
   1. Machine setups.
   2. CNC programming.
   3. Tooling.
   4. Fixturing.
3. Firm understanding of:
   1. GD&T
   2. Critical dimensioning.
   3. Relationship between dimensions.
4. Rework experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

1. Technical high school diploma, machinist trade school or equivalent work experience.
2. Set-up experience with tooling and fixtures with the ability to follow instructions per technical drawings or work instructions.
3. Familiar with shop math principles and basic trigonometry.
4. Indication of fixtures and part to reduce runout.
5. Setting adjustable tooling.
6. Understanding timing or rotational values.
7. Using existing features to create machining starting point.
8. Understanding how to create a flat plane for the start of machining process.
9. Basic CNC Macro coding experience.
10. General skills such as use of hand-held power tools, files, assembly and disassembly.
11. Read, write, speak, understand English, and be able to communicate with other employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
2. Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
3. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift. Move parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (<50 pounds) with or without hoists, slings, or carts.
4. Occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.
