Aerotek is seeking a CNC Mill Machinist for 1st and 2nd shifts in Shoreview, MN. You will set up and operate DMG Mori Seiki CNC mills to produce low-volume parts and prototypes, completing multiple setups daily.

The role is permanent and onsite with pay between $29 and $33 per hour plus benefits. The team is small and collaborative, with opportunities for advancement into higher-level machinist positions.

Responsibilities

• Set up DMG Mori Seiki CNC mills for production and prototype work, completing 4–6 setups daily.
• Run low-volume production runs of 25 parts or fewer and support prototype machining for engineering.
• Handle full machine setup, including workholding, tooling, offsets, and program loading for mills and lathes.
• Edit programs using G and M codes to optimize machining operations and meet specifications.
• Change tools and adjust tooling to maintain part quality and efficiency.
• Operate manual mills and lathes as required to support machining operations and special projects.
• Read and interpret production and short-run blueprints to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
• Inspect own parts during and after setup using calipers, gauges, and other precision tools.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, including dimensional deviations and surface finish concerns.
• Collaborate with a small, intimate team to meet production schedules and support continuous improvement efforts.

Job Description

This role focuses on setting up and operating Mills to produce low-volume and prototype parts for production and engineering.

Responsibilities

• Set up DMG Mori Seiki CNC mills for production and prototype work, completing approximately 4–6 setups per day.


• Perform low-volume production runs of 25 parts or fewer and support prototype machining for the engineering team.


• Handle full machine setup, including workholding, tooling, offsets, and program loading for mills and lathes.


• Make program edits using G and M codes to optimize machining operations and ensure parts meet specifications.


• Perform tool changes and adjust tooling as needed to maintain part quality and process efficiency.


• Operate manual mills and lathes as required to support machining operations and special projects.


• Read and interpret production and short-run blueprints to determine machining requirements and tolerances.


• Inspect own parts after setup and during production using calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.


• Troubleshoot machining issues, including dimensional deviations, surface finish concerns, and tooling problems.


• Work with machine components and Shop Math to calculate dimensions, feeds, speeds, and offsets accurately.


• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established safety procedures in the machining department.


• Collaborate with a small, intimate team to meet production schedules and support continuous improvement efforts.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean, organized, and well-lit manufacturing facility that is climate-controlled for comfort and consistency. The machining department is smaller and more intimate, fostering close collaboration among approximately 13 team members.

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $33.00/hr.
