CNC/Mechanical Coiling Machine Operator

Location: North Kansas City
Shift: 7am-3:30pm M-F but can work as early as 5am-1:30pm

Pay: $22/hr.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically skilled individual to set up, operate, and maintain automatic spring coiling machines. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC programming and manual spring coiling processes, ensuring the production of high-quality compression and extension springs that meet precise specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup & Operation: Configure and operate automatic spring coiling machines, including CNC and cam/gear-driven models, based on blueprints and job specifications.

  • Tooling & Programming: Select and install necessary machine attachments such as taper cams, wire size blocks, coiling points, pitch tools, and cutting tools. Program CNC machines for new parts or adjust existing programs to ensure precision.

  • Quality Assurance: Measure and inspect samples using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify accuracy. Make critical adjustments to tooling and machine settings to maintain high-quality output.

  • Documentation: Complete documentation for inspections, wire usage, and production records.

  • Troubleshooting & Custom Tooling: Troubleshoot machine issues and create custom tooling when needed to meet production requirements.

  • Collaboration & Independence: Work independently or as part of a team to meet deadlines and production goals.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining or related field .

  • Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Work Environment: Manufacturing setting with exposure to noise and varying temperatures
