Job summary

Zobility is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to define and optimize the process for 3D metal parts across radar, sensor, and effector programs. You will translate design requirements into formal manufacturing documentation and collaborate with Operations and other engineering teams.

The role emphasizes achieving cost, quality, and delivery goals through CNC programming, tooling development, process validation with Vericut/Cimco, and robust corrective actions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering
• Proficient in high-speed machining and CNC tool capabilities
• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings with GD&T

Responsibilities

• Translate engineering design requirements into formal manufacturing process documentation including raw material definition, fixturing/tooling development, CNC programming, inspection planning, finishing requirements, and assembly instructions
• Support process improvements using data analysis and best practices to improve process capability and reduce cost
• Design, control, and improve the manufacturing process with a multi-disciplined team
• Self-manage workload to support existing production and drive improvement projects to completion
• Collaborate with Engineering and Operations leaders to ensure schedules and progress
• Perform process development on new product introductions with accelerated time to market
• Optimize CNC programs using modelling and analysis tools to reduce waste and improve efficiency

• Manufacturing Engineers learn production operations and the manufacturing discipline in a controlled environment.
• They develop manufacturing engineering skills alongside their team; internalize an understanding of safety, quality, delivery, and cost; and use Client systems and tools to create innovative and unique solutions to today's manufacturing challenges.
• Manufacturing Engineers build technical depth into manufacturing processes and are accountable for improvement and optimization.
• Primary responsibilities include developing the comprehensive manufacturing process for 3D metal parts for various radar, integrated sensor, and effector programs.
• The candidate will define materials, develop work holding solutions, create multi-axis CNC machining programs, develop inspection plans, and create process instructions for operators to follow.
• They will also assess process failures, disposition non-conforming hardware, and create and execute robust Root Cause/Corrective Action plans to permanently solve problems.
• This position requires close cooperation with the Operations team and other engineering disciplines.
• The desired candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be capable of working in a dynamic team environment.
• Responsibilities:

• Support process improvements using data analysis, application of best practices, and by implementing innovative solutions to improve process capability and decrease cost
• Design, control, and improve the manufacturing process through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team
• Self-manage workload to support existing production, perform non-recurring engineering work for new products, and drive improvement projects to completion.
• Communicate effectively with Engineering and Operations leaders in department to ensure schedule needs are met and where any barriers to progress exist.
• Perform process development on new product introductions with an accelerated time to market
• Optimize CNC programs using machining modelling and analysis tools to identify inefficiencies and apply new techniques
• Integrate automated solutions for part handling and in-machine work holding
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and document standard methodologies and standard work for CNC machining
• Review metrology and statistical process control (SPC) data to identify and address potential defects before they occur
• Validate NC programs using CGTech Vericut and Cimco Edit
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues alongside Quality and Operations personnel and apply CORE/6-sigma methods to determine Root Cause and apply Corrective Actions
• Requirements:
• 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar field
• Knowledge of high-speed machining techniques, cutting tools, and CNC machine tool capabilities
• 5+ years correctly interpreting engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances
• Preferred:
• CNC programming experience for machines with 4 or more axes
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Creo CAD/CAM Software
• Process familiarity with paint, plating, and structural assembly
• Results-oriented focus on past projects to evaluate success
• Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude
• Strong organization skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to work individually to support team/department success
• Excellent written, verbal, visual, and graphical communication skills
