Reading Bakery Systems seeks 1st & 2nd Shift Machinists in Indianapolis, IN to interpret drawings and operate manual and CNC equipment for high-precision bakery system components.

You will set up and run saws, lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC centers, select tools, edit CNC programs, and inspect parts with precision instruments to ensure quality and tolerances.

Qualifications

• Ability to read engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
• Experience operating manual and CNC machining equipment.
• Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
• Ability to edit or write simple CNC programs using G-code and M-code.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.

Responsabilités

• Interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and BOMs to determine machining requirements.
• Set up and operate saws, drills, lathes, surface grinders, mills, CNC machining centers, and CNC lathes.
• Select cutting tools and determine feeds, speeds, and fluids to meet tolerances and finishes.
• Edit or write simple CNC programs using G-code and M-code.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges during machining.

Machinists 20% Shift diff for 2nd shift. Pay rate varies and is based on your education and experience.Reading Bakery Systems seeks 1st & 2nd Shift Machinists to join our Manufacturing team in Indianapolis, IN. This position interprets engineering drawings and operates manual and CNC metal-cutting equipment to manufacture high-precision components for industrial bakery systems.The Machinist works with Engineering and Manufacturing leadership to ensure parts are produced accurately, meet quality standards, and support efficient assembly operations.What You’ll DoInterpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials to determine machining and assembly requirements.Set up and operate saws, drill presses, lathes, surface grinders, key seaters, milling machines, CNC machining centers, and CNC lathes.Select proper cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and cutting fluids to maintain required dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.Edit or write simple CNC programs using G-code and M-code.Inspect parts during machining using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.Align, fit, deburr, polish, attach, tighten, and adjust machined parts and assemblies.Make mechanical adjustments to maintain proper clearances, operating parameters, and accuracy.Support assembly of industrial bakery machinery, including fitting components, attaching parts, basic welding tasks, and verifying proper part movement.Organize component parts and subassemblies to support production flow.Complete required production and quality control records.Clean equipment and maintain a safe, organized work area.Follow company safety policies, occupational health programs, and operating procedures.Provide feedback to coworkers, supervisors, and management to support efficient manufacturing operations.When needed, assist with Machinist Coordinator duties and provide technical guidance to other machinists.Working ConditionsThis role is performed in a manufacturing environment and requires standing, walking, reaching, handling tools and materials, and performing close visual work. The employee may occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or lift up to 50 pounds.The work environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, vibration, wet or humid conditions, and high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
