Job summary

Vestcom, an Avery Dennison Company, is seeking a CNC Machinist to join our team on the 1st shift (5:00 AM – 3:30 PM) and operate manual lathes and milling equipment with a focus on precision.

You will read blueprints, troubleshoot setups, and perform routine maintenance while collaborating with cross-functional staff to deliver high-quality, one-off or high-tolerance parts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical CNC cert preferred.
• 3–5 years of hands-on CNC experience or equivalent training.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and hand/power tools.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel); knowledge of G-code is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional lathes, vertical mills, and centers with high precision.
• Troubleshoot mechanical setups using manuals and measuring tools.
• Read blueprints and lay out complex profiles with tight radii and angles.
• Perform routine maintenance and keep a safe, clean workspace.
• Collaborate across the shop and support plant-wide projects.

Your Impact (Essential Duties)

• Manual & Precision Machining: Set up and manually operate conventional lathes, vertical milling machines, and machining centers with high precision to fabricate complex, one-off, or high-tolerance custom parts without relying on automated G-code programs.
  

• Technical Troubleshooting: Use machine manuals, precise measuring tools, and hands-on mechanical diagnostics to independently identify, troubleshoot, and resolve machining issues or mechanical setups on the fly.
  

• Blueprint Mastery: Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics to manually layout, calculate, and machine intricate profiles involving tight radiuses, angles, and varied tangent points.
  

• Equipment Care & Continuous Improvement: Perform routine light maintenance, continuous cleaning, and preventative upkeep on your assigned manual machines to ensure peak operational accuracy and maintain a safe workspace.
  

• Shop-Wide Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional shop team members, support plant-wide facility projects, and lend machining expertise across the floor wherever needed.

Who You Are (Qualifications)

• Education: High School Diploma/GED required. A Technical Certificate or Associate’s Degree in CNC Machining is highly preferred.
  

• Experience: 3-5 years of hands‑on CNC experience or equivalent training.
  

• Technical Skills: * Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and hand/power tools.
  

  • Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
    

  • The "Plus" Factor: Familiarity or working knowledge of G-code is a significant advantage.
    

• Physical Readiness: Ability to stand for 75% of the shift, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a loud manufacturing environment with appropriate PPE.
