Job summary

CV-Tek in Elgin, Illinois, is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist for a 1st shift in a modern shop with high-mix, low-volume production. You will set up and run CNC lathes, read blueprints, and collaborate with engineering to ensure quality parts.

The role offers a clean shop, modern equipment, and a team-focused culture with overtime as needed. Experience with stainless/nonferrous materials and live tooling is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years CNC lathe setup experience.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes.
• Experience with Fanuc controls.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment.
• Strong math and computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes.
• Run production jobs and monitor machine performance.
• Make tooling and offset adjustments as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Inspect parts to ensure specifications and tolerances.
• Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, gauges, and comparators.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and identify process improvements.
• Work closely with engineering and manufacturing personnel.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area.
• Complete required production documentation.
• Work overtime as needed.

Join a stable manufacturer building custom food packaging equipment in a modern machine shop environment. CV-Tek is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Elgin, Illinois.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both setting up and running CNC lathes in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. Unlike many production shops, our work involves a wide variety of parts and equipment, providing opportunities to use your machining skills and problem-solving abilities every day.

Schedule

• 1st Shift
• 7:00 PM - 3:30 PM
• Overtime available
• No weekend work currently

What You'll Do

Requirements

Required:

• 3-5 years of CNC lathe setup experience
• Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes
• Experience with Fanuc controls
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment
• Strong math and computer skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Commitment to quality and safety

Preferred:

• Experience machining stainless steel and non-ferrous materials
• Experience with live tooling, tailstocks, and sub-spindle transfers
• Multi-turret lathe experience
• CNC programming or program-editing experience
• CAD/CAM, Fusion 360, or FeatureCAM experience
• Understanding of CNC milling processes
