Job summary

Barrett Firearms in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is seeking a CNC Maintenance Specialist to plan, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on CNC machines and facility systems. You will lead efforts to minimize downtime and drive reliability by implementing preventive maintenance programs and partnering with engineers, vendors, and teams.

You will uphold safety standards, manage inventory, and collaborate on process improvements to support continuous operations and cost-effective maintenance solutions.

Qualifications

• Certificate or equivalent experience in maintenance or electronics field.
• 7–10 years of CNC maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Eligibility to work with firearms under state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance activities for industrial equipment, facilities, and systems to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance plans to minimize downtime.
• Lead troubleshooting, repair, and replacement on machinery and systems with focus on quality and cost efficiency.
• Implement and maintain a CMMS program and optimize PM schedules.
• Ensure OSHA, environmental, and safety standards compliance through inspections and corrective actions.
• Manage maintenance inventory, supplies, and vendor relationships to support operations.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify maintenance priorities and plan upgrades.
• Contribute to long-term maintenance and facility improvement planning, including training and equipment replacement strategies.

Job description

As a CNC Maintenance Specialist, you'll play a key role in keeping our precision machining facility running at peak performance. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working closely with production leaders, you'll plan, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on CNC machines, industrial equipment, and facility systems. You'll lead efforts to minimize downtime, implement preventive maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with safety standards. By partnering with engineers, vendors, and team members, you'll help drive reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across our operations.

About the Role

• Oversee and direct all maintenance activities for industrial equipment, facilities, and systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance plans to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
• Lead troubleshooting, repair, and replacement efforts on machinery and systems, maintaining the highest standards of quality and cost efficiency.
• Implement and maintain a CMMS program, optimizing PM schedules based on usage, production needs, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards through routine inspections and corrective actions.
• Manage maintenance inventory, supplies, and vendor relationships to support continuous operations and cost-effective maintenance solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify maintenance priorities, plan upgrades, and support process improvements.
• Contribute to long-term maintenance and facility improvement planning, including personnel training and equipment replacement strategies.

About You

With strong technical and troubleshooting skills, you excel at keeping complex equipment running smoothly and reliably. You thrive in a hands-on environment, enjoy working collaboratively with production teams, and take pride in preventing downtime through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement.

• Certificate or equivalent experience in maintenance or electronics field, specifically in CNC Milling and Turning equipment.
• 7 to 10 years of related experience in CNC maintenance.
• Must be effective in troubleshooting and repairing equipment for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical issues.
• Desirable skills include knowledge of: Fanuc CNC control systems like Fanuc 21i-MB, OSP-P200L & OSP-U100L, F3iB5, Mazatrol 640TE along with PLC and HMI programming servo motor systems, single and 3 phase AC/DC motors; CNC operated metal cutting machine tools; fluid system, types of pumps, valves, etc.
