BARNES is hiring CNC Machinists to operate 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC milling, turning and grinding equipment in a high-precision aerospace environment. You will load parts, set up tools, run multiple machines, and verify parts with precision gauges to meet tight tolerances.

Strong reading of blueprints and CNC programs is required; experience with Fanuc controls and GD&T is preferred. Competitive wages and benefits are included.

Salary: $23.00/hour - $40.00/hour + 3k sign on bonus

Shift differential - 2nd shift 12% / 3rd shift 15%

Work Hours: 1st shift 7am-3:30 pm / 2nd shift 3:30 pm - 12 am / 3rd shift 10:30 pm - 7 am.

What You'll Do

• Operate 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC milling, turning and/or grinding machines
• Run multiple machines simultaneously, as most equipment is part of manufacturing cells or machining centers
• Machine hard metals such as Inconel, titanium, and stainless steel
• Load parts and fixtures using hoists and safely position workpieces in machines
• Make program required offsets and adjustments using Fanuc controls
• Read and interpret blueprints and CNC programs at the machine
• Set up tools using tool sheets and ensure proper configuration
• Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or GED
• Live within a commutable distance to East Hartford, CT or East Granby, CT
• Experience setting up and changing over jobs on CNC equipment
• Ability to read English and interpret symbols on operation sheets
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively
• Proficiency in mathematics and calculator use
• Experience making offsets at the machine
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and CNC programs
• Experience setting up and using machining tools and fixtures
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment, including gauges, swing gauges, calipers, and micrometers
• Familiarity with right angle head operations
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability to work within tight tolerances (thousandths of an inch)

Preferred Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in aerospace or high precision manufacturing
• 3+ years of experience operating CNC multi-axis milling machines
