Job summary

RTCA in Chatsworth, CA is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to perform complex setups (3-5 axis) and support aerospace manufacturing. You will load programs, select tooling, read blueprints, verify part conformance with precision instruments, and collaborate with Engineering on tooling improvements.

The role emphasizes lean manufacturing, mentoring junior machinists, and maintaining quality during all operations in a safe, organized environment onsite.

Qualifications

• Experience performing CNC setups (3-, 4-, 5-axis) in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
• Proficient with precision measuring tools and documentation.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize processes for quality and efficiency.
• Strong math, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform CNC setups, including complex and first-run setups on multiple machines.
• Select tooling, load programs, support workholding and setup activities.
• Read engineering drawings and specifications; verify conformance with measuring instruments.
• Collaborate with Engineering on tooling improvements and new product introductions.
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced machinists and operators.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environment.
