Job summary

CMI Group in North Phoenix, AZ, seeks an Experienced CNC Machinist for the weekend shift (Friday–Sunday). The role involves reviewing MOTs and blueprints, selecting fixtures and cutting tools, and setting up machines with proper tool offsets.

You will load programs, monitor operations, and ensure quality through in-process inspections. Applicants should have solid CNC experience, read drawings and specifications, and maintain documentation for MIL/ITAR-compliant processes.

Qualifications

• Proficient with CNC control and maintenance.
• Able to read blueprints, MOTs/DMRs, and associated paperwork.
• Experience loading programs and setting tool offsets; in-process inspection.

Responsibilities

• Review MOTs, blueprints, and sketches to determine operations to be performed on part.
• Determine fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, programs, and gauges needed.
• Align and secure fixtures, install tools, set offsets, and prepare machine.
• Ensure inspection workflow supports production needs and completes related paperwork.
• Load programs into control, verify order of operations, and edit as necessary.
• Start and monitor machines to detect malfunctions and adjust controls as needed.
• Set up inspection methods for all machined parts and communicate across shifts.
• Perform in-process inspections and complete MOTs/DMRs/FAIs per procedures.
• Identify and record non-conforming parts and verify part numbers/revisions.
• Adhere to ITAR and all compliance regulations.

Experienced CNC Machinist - Weekend Shift

Location: North Phoenix - 2688 E Rose Garden Ln, Phoenix, AZ 85050

Shift: Full time Weekend Shift (Friday - Sunday)

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Review/study MOT’s, blueprints, and sketches to determine operations to be performed on part
• Determines fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, programs, and gages needed
• Aligns and secures holding fixture, installs cutting tools in proper holders and puts holder in machine and sets tools offsets
• Ensure the inspection department work flow is supporting production needs
• Loads programs corresponding to the operation into computer, checks tools and programs are in correct order of operation and edits program, if necessary
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required
• Sets up and maintains proper inspection method for all machined parts and communicates with coworkers where necessary for smooth transition of work shifts
• Performs in-process inspections
• Completes all paperwork including MOTs, DMRs, Non-Conforming Material requests, and First Article Inspection Forms in accordance to our procedures and policies
• Identifies and records non-conforming parts as discrepant
• Verifies quantity, customer part number and revision to the MOT and Blueprints
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, including ITAR and other compliance regulations

Basic Skills & Abilities

• Basic use of CNC control, operation, and maintenance requirements
• Read and understand B/P's, including assemblies, dimensions, tolerances, symbols, notes, abbreviations, geometric dimensions, tolerance, and other standard nomenclature per customer, government, or industry standards
• Loads material/parts into machine and programs
• Daily maintenance on machine (checking fluid levels, cleaning out chips)
• In process inspection of parts
• Enter tool offsets to compensate for tool wear
• Replacement of worn or damaged tools (inserts, boring bars, end mills drills, etc.)
• Filling out the MOT and their Job Sheets properly
• Maintaining correct count of parts on the MOT for their operations
• Tagging hardware and recording discrepancies on proper paperwork for hardware known to the operator to be discrepant
• Recording inspection data at proper intervals per the Inspection Traveler or other company paperwork
• Communicate any job-related issues / questions (part feature, program, inspection, etc.) to lead person for resolution / clarification
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Report all machine malfunctions to the lead
• To read initial and date reject histories attached to MOT's

Physical Requirements

• Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for the majority of the work shift, reach overhead, and bend to the floor. - exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, andor exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, andor - exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Visual Acuity: Ability to detect surface defects, tool wear, or measurement deviations - good near vision for reading drawings, measurements, and digital readouts, and computer screens
• Must tolerate exposure to machining dust, oils, and moderate noise levels in a manufacturing environment
