Job summary

Leidos in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a CNC Machinist for 2nd shift with experience programming, setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes. You will read engineering drawings, run multiple machines, and verify dimensions with gauges to meet tight tolerances.

Applicants should have 5+ years in precision machining, read prints, and be able to lift 35+ pounds and work overtime. Aerospace experience is a plus; US citizenship and security clearance required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 5+ years of precision machining experience on CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and related work instructions.
• Experience with precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to lift 35+ pounds and work overtime as needed.
• Capable of reading prints and performing dimensional checks with gauges.
• Experience with aerospace components or exotic materials is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings and set up/operate CNC lathes (primarily) with backup on CNC mills.
• Set up and run multiple machines across varied operations to meet print tolerances.
• Verify dimensions using fixtures and gauges; perform dimensional checks.
• Work on large aerospace components; 5-axis and/or mill-turn experience preferred.
• Collaborate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects.
• Perform other duties and be available for overtime as necessary.
• Friday-Sunday 6AM-6PM shift availability is required.

Leidos’ Defense Systems Colorado Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist 2nd Shift to join our team at our Colorado Springs, CO location.

The ideal candidate will need to have experience in programming, setup, and operation of a variety of machine tools including CNC Mills and CNC Lathes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Must be capable of reading engineering drawings
• Operation of CNC lathes (primarily), provide backup operations on CNC mills and other manual equipment.
• You will be expected to set up and run machines on a wide variety of operations involving multiple machines that convert raw materials to precision finished goods within print tolerance specification.
• Use fixtures or gauges to verify accomplish dimensional checks.
• Experience in the manufacturing of large aerospace components from exotic materials is a plus. 5-axis and/or mill-turn experience.
• Applicants must be able to work on different projects in an ever changing, rapid paced environment with little or no assistance
• Performs other duties as required and available for overtime as necessary.

Basic Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• 5+ years of experience years of precision machining experience on CNC Mills & CNC Lathes.
• Intermediate knowledge of shop math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings as well as understand basic work instructions for product fabrication
• General knowledge, skills, and understanding with hand and power tools to include, deburring tools, wrenches, etc.
• Proficiency with precision measuring and fixed gauge equipment (micrometers, calipers, electronic height gauges, etc.)
• Candidates must have the ability to lift a minimum of 35+ pounds unassisted.
• Candidates must be able to work overtime when required.
• Candidate must be willing to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 6AM-6PM.
• US Citizenship requirement and clearance requirement

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the manufacturing of complex aerospace components from exotic materials
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Basic PC skills for data entry, timecard and production time entries

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
