Job Description

Pace Engineering, Inc. is a manufacturer of machined components for the earthmoving, mining, and construction industries located in Willoughby, OH. We are seeking a CNC Vertical Mill Setup Machinist on day shift.

CNC Vertical Mill Setup Machinist tasks include:

  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Prepares work assignment by organizing tools, tool holders, supplies, and materials.
  • Sets-up CNC vertical mill for close tolerance machining by studying drawing, downloading computerized instructions, reading M and G code, and makes minor modifications to program to ensure tolerances are achieved.
  • Loads raw material or in-process machined components and operates CNC vertical mill to machine parts.
  • Monitors CNC vertical mill to ensure proper operation to machine defect-free parts at optimal throughput.
  • Completes first piece inspection and obtains Quality Inspector signoff.
  • Performs in-process part inspection by using calipers, mics, snap gages, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Changes CNC vertical mill’s tools and inserts as necessary to ensure throughput and quality.
  • Enters daily production job results into data collection and signs-off on job router.
  • Cooperatively engages, instructs, and coaches other machinists as necessary throughout the day. Promotes a positive work environment and leads by example in all aspects of job performance.
  • Performs production-maintenance activities as necessary (wipe down exterior of machine, clean chips/spray-down machine internal, refill coolant/other lubricants, sweep area, empty scrap hopper, etc).
  • Other duties as assigned.

The position requires standing continuously for up to four hours, the ability to repeatedly lift up to 40 pounds, and walking throughout a multi-acre site.
