Job summary

Brasstech in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a CNC Machinist/Set Up to set up CNC lathes, mills and manual machines in a production-paced environment. You will read blueprints, follow routings and tooling instructions to hold tight tolerances and transfer programs to CNC machines.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and experience with CNC mill/lathe setups. You will inspect parts, document measurements, mentor newer machinists, and support multiple machines as cycle times permit.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Educations and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must possess experience with CNC mill and lathe setup
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of machine shop and tool room practices
  • Understanding of machining properties of various metals
  • Knowledge of proper application and operation of CNC equipment
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to change tools, adjust heights and tool compensations
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with hand measuring tools and inspection equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Computer Skills
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Computer skills to transfer programs to a variety of CNC machines.
Language Skills
  • English (reading, writing, verbal)
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply)
Other Skills
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holiday hours.
  • Ability to legally work without sponsorship for employment visa status.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (only Provide If Needed)
  • Experience with Brother, Haas, and Mazak controls
  • Experience writing or editing machine programs
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have occasional bending, squatting, climbing, and twisting. There will be occasional usage of his/her hands to power grasp and manipulate objects, tools or controls, and occasional pushing, pulling and reaching above the shoulders. The position requires frequent walking and standing, as well as repetitive usage of hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, and reaching below shoulder level. Additionally, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 35 pounds with or without assistance. Required to wear PPE (ie. Face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection on plant floor).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in warehouse environment; and will be exposed to machine shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, cold and heat on frequent basis. The ambient conditions are moderate, and the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
