We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Shop CNC Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up and operating computer programmable/controlled machines to perform a series of operations for engine overhaul, assembly, and test.

The ideal candidate will be expected to become proficient in all types of machining.

Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Program / Operate CNC machines.
  • Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind metal to precise dimensions.
  • Capability to operate manual machines (mill/lathe).
  • Familiarity with wire EDM.
  • Fit and assemble parts to make tools, dies, jigs, and gauges.
  • Read and understand operation sheets, operational sketches and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with computer systems such as CAD software, Outlook e-mail, and Shop Floor menu applications; as well as concepts such as lean manufacturing.
  • Deburring and polish hardware.
  • Troubleshoot quality problems.
  • Perform in process check location.
  • Perform inspection using a variety of precision measuring and test equipment.
  • Works within a team to perform the above duties meet both team and facility operational targets.
  • Load tool and tool holders as required.
  • Verify correct tool hardware, tool diameter, tool radius, drill length, and end mills.
  • Perform periodic inspections of calibration.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with others, both written and verbally.
  • Follow and promote safe work practices.
  • Ability and willingness to lift to 50 lbs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree (or high school diploma / GED with a minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience).
  • 2+ years of CNC programming experience.
  • Proficiency in shop mathematics required (i.e. geometry and trigonometry, blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerances).

Desired Characteristics:

  • Familiarity with computer systems such as Outlook e-mail and Shop Floor menu applications; as well as concepts such as lean manufacturing.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with working knowledge of precision measuring equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment along with willingness to balance multiple priorities.
