About The Role

Based in Long Beach, California, the CNC Machinist/Senior CNC Machinist will maintain, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce flight-ready hardware meeting Rocket Lab specifications at the required rate.

What You’ll Do

• Operate CNC lathe and mill machines
• Read and interpret drawings and CAD models
• Provide feedback to improve work instructions
• Collaborate with CNC programmers to maintain tolerances
• Address non-conformances identified by quality or engineering
• Suggest improvements on batch sizes, setups, and tool selection
• Track calibration and maintenance of equipment and tooling

This position can be hired as a CNC Machinist or Senior CNC Machinist level.

Qualifications for CNC Machinist

• At least 2 years of CNC operation experience on lathes and mills
• Ability to use dual spindle (live tooling) lathes
• Ability to use 5th axis mills
• Ability to interpret drawings and GD&T

Qualifications for Senior CNC Machinist

• At least 5 years of CNC operation experience on lathes and mills
• Ability to use dual spindle (live tooling) lathes
• Ability to operate 5th axis mills
• Ability to interpret drawings and GD&T

Preferred Qualifications

• CNC programming experience with NX
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing
• Knowledge of 5-axis CNC setup and operation
• Experience with DMG Mori machines and Siemens, Fanuc, Celos controls
• Experience with bar feeders and manual programming

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to work C shift (Fri-Sun, 5:30am-3:30pm or 2:30pm-1:00am)
• Ability to travel and communicate outside work hours
• Extended hours and weekend work as needed
• Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift up to 25 lbs, stand for extended periods

Level and salary will be determined based on experience, education, and skills. The total rewards package includes competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

Salary Range

$35—$50 USD per hour (CA only).
