Job description

Check-Mate Manufacturing has openings position for CNC Machinist Programmers. This position fabricates plastic and metal parts using computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Attention to detail is extremely important when assembling products being used by law enforcement and surgeons as well as other customers serviced by Check-Mate. CNC Machinists Programmers monitor computers and machines to maintain top-notch quality and precision for customers in a variety of industries ranging from firearms to medical.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes, but may not be limited to the following

  • CNC Machinist Programmer sets- up and operates conventional, special-purpose, and computerized numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts Programs CNC machines with instructions, offsets, reference points, and other calculations to create parts needed in manufacturing.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer sets up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer develops specifications from blue prints, general description and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer specializes in setting up and operating computerized numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer interprets overall engineering plans, surface locations and machining parameters in order to correctly program machines.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer inspect finished parts for quality and blueprint accuracy.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer tracks and maintains the stock of raw materials used to fabricate ordered parts.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer works with inventory managers to place orders and reports low stock levels.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer manages inventory and orders in the most efficient and cost-effective ways.
  • CNC Machinist Programmer schedules maintenance to resolve problems with the CNC lathe machines.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • 3-5 years of machining experience
  • 1-5 years of experience with CNC, measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height and depth gauges)
  • 1-5 years of experience with shop floor control software (IQMS MES, TrakSYS, E2 Shop System, ESPRIT and other programming controls)
  • 1-5 years of experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks (optional), Mastercam)
  • Technically competence operating CNC machines in an industrial setting
  • Hand and eye coordination and attention to detail
