Job summary

Qualifications

• Interprets setup sheets, drawings, and work orders to determine work and dimensions
• Operates CNC mills/lathe to perform milling, drilling, or boring to close tolerances
• Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions
• Performs inspection and gauging to ensure tolerances and quality
• Uses override control to correct out-of-tolerance conditions
• Cleans machine, tooling, and parts; performs basic maintenance

Responsibilities

• Interpret setup sheets, drawings, and work orders to determine work and dimensions of in-process and finished parts.
• Operate CNC machine to perform milling, drilling, boring, or related operations to close tolerances; select and install tools; load programs or enter commands; adjust during machining as specified in setup instructions.
• Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
• Perform inspection and gauging to ensure conformity to drawing tolerances and quality standards; notify supervisor of discrepancies.
• Use override control to correct conditions that are out of tolerance.
• Clean machine, tooling, and parts; manage chip container; perform basic machine maintenance.
