Sonoco Machinery & Manufacturing in Hartsville, SC seeks a skilled Machinist to operate and program an NC Mill. The role requires familiarity with G-code, blueprints, GD&T, and setting up fixtures for parts. Candidates should have strong math skills and be able to read metric drawings, with the ability to move between machines as workload shifts.

Base rate is $30.46–$39.28/hr, with overtime as needed. Overall, the position offers hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure to state-of-the-art

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of machine shop equipment and at least 5 years’ experience with manual lathes, mills, and grinders.
• Good working knowledge of CNC equipment; prior assembly or fabrication experience using blueprints.
• Technical degree in Machine Shop preferred.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Willing to work overtime, including weekends and holidays.

Responsabilités

• Operate and program an NC Mill.
• Proficient in G-code or conversational programming.
• Set up machine and make fixtures for individual parts.
• Know speeds and feeds of different materials and tooling.
• Read standard and metric blueprints; GD&T.
• Check own parts with machine shop measuring instruments (OD/ID mic’s, calipers, depth mic’s, scales, tape measure).
• Proficient in basic math and geometry.
• Experience with Esprit or MasterCam preferred.
• Maintain safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintain continuity with partner on other shift by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Move from one machine or job assignment to another when workload shifts.
