Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Group's Medeco Security Locks division in Salem, VA seeks a Machinist for the 2nd shift. This on-site role involves operating CNC and manual machines, reading blueprints, and ensuring tight tolerances while supporting safety and quality initiatives.

Ideal candidates will have CNC/manufacturing experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and strong teamwork and problem-solving skills. The position reports to the Machining Area Manager and offers a competitive hourly pay range.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or machining apprenticeship preferred.
• Experience as a Machinist with CNC and manual machining proficiency.
• Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and blueprints.
• Experience operating and maintaining machining equipment to tight tolerances.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities; able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC/manual machines, lathes, and mill-turns per specifications.
• Program CNC machines and interpret CAD/CAM designs to meet quality standards.
• Perform changeovers, adjustments, and ensure minimal downtime.
• Measure dimensions with precision, verify tolerances, and inspect finished parts.
• Lead troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to keep equipment running.
• Support safety, housekeeping, and Kaizen/quality improvement efforts.
