Job summary

Festo Corporation in Mason, Ohio, seeks a CNC Machinist/Operator for the Third Shift to set up and operate CNC Lathe machines and related equipment. You will cut, machine, and deburr parts for pneumatic cylinders and manifolds, reading blueprints and ensuring tight tolerance production.

The role involves using various tools and machines, performing first piece inspections, and maintaining quality standards across a range of parts.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing/warehouse/machine shop environment or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Basic computer skills
• Experience with SAP or similar system is a plus
• Knowledge of hand tools and the Metric system
• Knowledge of basic machine practices and safety standards
• Knowledge of measuring equipment and machine tools

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates CNC Lathe machines to produce parts for pneumatic cylinders and manifolds.
• Cuts and machines rods and barrels for assembly of cylinders.
• Operates specialty machinery (tube cutter, deburrer, polisher, rod saw, flat press, roller burnishing).
• Performs complex CNC machine setups and reads/writes/edits programs.
• Machine parts to drawing tolerances and perform first piece inspection.
• Change tool offsets and read multiple inspection gauges to verify conformance.

Summary Of Job Contents

Sets up and Operate CNC Lathe machines in order to produce the required parts for pneumatic cylinders and manifolds. Cuts and machines rods and barrels for use in the assembly of full range of pneumatic cylinders. Operates various specialty machinery, i.e. tube cutter, tube deburrer, tube polisher, rod saw, flat press, and roller burnishing machine.

Key Accountabilities

• Performs complex CNC machine setups
• Ability to read, write and modify programs for the CNC Lathe machines
• Machines production components to critical blueprint tolerances
• Machine piston rods on CNC Lathe & Machine various parts on CNC milling machine
• Machine production parts on manual lathe and milling machines as required
• Set up CNC machines to produce production parts to drawing specifications
• Perform first piece inspection to drawing specifications
• Changes tool offsets to maintain dimensions per production drawings
• Reads inspection equipment in both inch and metric increments (caliper, micrometer, depth gage, Last word indicator, pitch micrometer etc…)
• Verifies conformance of all components to specifications.
• Uses various types of roller burnishing machines to finish piston rods. & Washes rods in cleaning solution to prepare for assembly.
