Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist (Multi-Axis) for the 2nd shift to produce precision parts for rocket tooling. You will program, set-up, and operate multi-axis lathes and mills to meet exact specifications.

The role requires experience with Mastercam/Aspire, precision inspection, and Lean/Sigma practices in a production environment. ITAR compliance and lifting up to 25lbs are part of the job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency
• 6+ years of experience on multi-axis lathes and mills or other CNC machines
• 1+ years of CNC programming experience
• Experience using Mastercam or Aspire for programming
• Experience with open setup inspection and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs)
• Experience applying Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma in production machining

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine machining methods, sequences, dimensions, and tolerances for precision parts
• Set up multi-axis CNC lathes and mills to precise tolerances and machine fixtures, tools, and components to drawing specifications with limited supervision
• Program and operate multiple CNC machines to meet production schedules and quality targets
• Measure, inspect, and test completed parts using precision instruments to detect defects and confirm conformance
• Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing
• Clean and maintains machines, tools, and cutting equipment to sustain reliable production

CNC MACHINIST, MULTI-AXIS - LEVEL 4/5 – (2NDSHIFT)

We are seeking skilled professionals to produce precision parts and components for tooling assemblies and ground support equipment, ensuring every piece meets exact design specifications through programming, setup, and operation of advanced machines. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interprets blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine machining methods, sequences, dimensions, and tolerances for precision parts
• Sets up multi-axis CNC lathes and mills to precise tolerances and machines fixtures, tools, and components to drawing specifications with limited supervision
• Programs and operates multiple CNC machines and processes concurrently to meet production schedules and quality targets
• Measures, inspects, and tests completed parts using precision instruments to detect defects and confirm conformance to specifications
• Supports metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing
• Cleans and maintains machines, tools, and cutting equipment to sustain reliable production

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 6+ years of experience on multi-axis lathes and mills or other CNC machines

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 1+ years of CNC programming experience
• Experience operating drill presses, grinders, and related metalworking equipment
• Experience using multi-axis CNC programming software such as Mastercam or Aspire
• Experience using manual mills and lathes
• Experience with open setup inspection, including manual inspection tools and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) or other automated inspection equipment
• Experience applying Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma practices in a production machining environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Anticipated hours for this position are 2:00 pm – 12:00 am
• Must be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
• Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, and twisting the upper body
• Ability to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
• Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
