Job summary

Pursuit Aerospace in Plainville, CT, is seeking a CNC Machinist to operate Okuma milling and turning machines under supervision. This on-site role requires setting up, editing, and tuning programs to meet blueprints and work orders.

You will work in a cellular environment, read blueprints, use precision measuring tools, follow ISO/quality procedures, and mentor newer operators as needed. Overtime may be available.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to understand instructions in English.
• Experience or exposure to aerospace or tight-tolerance manufacturing is a plus.
• Okuma CNC machines and Fanuc controls experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Okuma CNC milling machines and related equipment.
• Make edits and adjustments to meet work orders and blueprint specs.
• Operate more than one machine in a cellular environment.
• Inspect dimensional features and ensure quality and quantity per company standards.
• Complete paperwork for counts, scrap, time and other documentation.

About the Opportunity:

Operates Okuma CNC Milling machines under the direction of the area supervisor or Lead Person.

Location:

Plainville, CT - This position is 100% on site, Monday through Friday with overtime available (1st shift: 7:00am-3:30pm ET).

Responsibilities:

• Performs set-ups and operates Okuma CNC mill & turn machines and related equipment where programs, fixtures, and methods have been developed.
• Makes all edits and adjustments as required to produce parts to work orders/blueprint specifications/sketches.
• The ability to operate more than one machine in a cellular environment is required.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of feeds and speeds and a working knowledge of cutting tools and their application.
• Inspects work for all dimensional features as required.
• Produces quality and quantity of work in accordance with Company requirements.
• Responsible for accurately completing paperwork relating to counts, scrap, time, etc according to Company policy.
• Performs duties always exercising good machining practices.
• Maintains area, equipment, and tooling in a neat, orderly condition including operator maintenance sheets.
• Maintains coolant tanks and fills as necessary.
• Assists new and less experienced operators as requested.
• Observes all Company policies, rules, and regulations including good housekeeping, safety and security.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
• Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 0-2 years CNC machinist experience
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and sketches.
• Basic mechanical ability.
• Experience with Okuma CNC machines and Fanuc controls
• Experience operating in a cellular manufacturing environment
• Prior experience using precision measuring instruments
• Exposure to aerospace or tight-tolerance manufacturing environments

Working Conditions

• Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
• Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
• Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
