Steel Tool & Engineering is seeking a full-time CNC Machinist in Michigan. You will set up, program, and operate mills and lathes to produce high-precision aerospace components, with a $1 shift premium for Midshift and Night shifts.

Qualifications

• Candidate must demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable attendance and dependable performance are required.
• Ability to identify non-conforming parts and participate in quality control.
• Experience manufacturing job-specific tooling (e.g., chuck jaws, fixtures).
• Collaborative mindset with supervisors and teammates; strong productivity goals.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely in an aerospace-focused shop.
• Good verbal and written communication to assist other operators.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC mills and lathes with precision.
• Configure machines, load materials, and monitor machining operations.
• Modify programs to optimize performance and accuracy.
• Inspect finished parts using measuring tools (micrometers, calipers).
• Identify and troubleshoot machining or process issues.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and safety checks.
• Maintain focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
• Mentor and communicate with other operators as needed.
• Consistently work within tight tolerances.

Available Shifts (with $1.00 Shift Premium)

• Midshift: 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM
• Night Shift: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM
• Shift Premium: +$1.00/hour for Mid & Night shifts

Pay

• $19.25 - $22.00 (based on experience)
• $1.00/hour shift premium for Mid & Night shifts

What You’ll Do

As a CNC Machinist, you'll play a critical role in producing high‑precision components that meet strict aerospace standards. You will:

• Set up, program, and operate CNC machines with precision
• Configure machines, load materials, and monitor machining operations
• Modify programs as needed to optimize performance
• Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools
• Identify and troubleshoot machining or process issues
• Perform routine machine maintenance
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity
• Mentor and communicate with other operators as needed
• Consistently work within tight tolerances
