Position Summary:

Level Two: Building upon level one, with minimal assistance, level two machinists operate 3-5 axis CNC machines. This includes basic machine setup such as preparing and setting up fixtures and cutting tools, loading and adjusting CNC programs and offsets. Competencies include using advanced quality inspection tools like height and air gauges, bench inspection, and part buy-off. Basic knowledge of CNC G and M codes is required. Typically, 2-4 years of experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic setup operations including setting up fixtures, cutting tools, and CNC programs.
  • Maintain product quality by monitoring and adjusting CNC offsets.
  • Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity, interacting with drawings and advanced inspection tools.
  • Validate program and first part runs on existing products.
  • Interact with production tracking tools such as Avante or E1 to charge time to job orders and claim parts at shift end.
  • Perform SPC as required.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to identify, load, and secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
  • Knowledge of G and M codes for setting and adjusting offsets and interacting with CNC programs.
  • Understanding of shop math, including tool geometry and basic geometry concepts.
  • Ability to read basic prints and apply dimensional specifications to inspection processes.
  • DAP training.

Required Experience:

  • Evidence of success in level one machining duties for at least one year prior to promotion or hire.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.

Level of Education:

  • GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
