Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in United States is seeking a CNC machinist to perform setup, measurement, and first article inspection on multiple machines. You will read blueprints, load fixtures, and apply offsets to maintain tight tolerances while ensuring safe and efficient production.

Ideal candidates have proven experience with G-code/M-code, basic shop math, and the ability to read basic prints. A high school diploma or GED is expected, with 2–4 years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Read basic prints and apply dimensional specs to inspection processes.
  • Be proficient in identifying and loading fixtures and securing parts with minimal assistance.
  • Understand offsets and how to interact with CNC programs using G/M codes.
  • Capable of basic shop math including geometry and tool geometry.

Responsibilities

  • Load fixtures and secure parts for CNC setup.
  • Set up fixtures, cutting tools, and CNC programs.
  • Perform in-process inspections and record measurements for tolerances.
  • Adjust CNC offsets to maintain product quality.
  • Perform first article and buyoff.
  • Run production on multiple machines as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
  • Use sample parts, blueprints, and schematics to determine the method and order of operations.
  • Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances.
  • Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting CNC offsets as needed.
  • Perform and record in process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features regarding dimensional tolerances and specifications.
  • Perform first article and buyoff
  • Perform setup operations which includes setting up fixtures, cutting tools and CNC programs.
  • Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools.
  • Run production on multiple machines at once. (Primary & Secondary)
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
  • The ability to identify and correctly load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
  • A working knowledge of G and M codes applied in setting and adjusting offsets and interacting with CNC programs.
  • A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry.
  • The ability to read basic prints and apply basic dimensional specifications to inspection processes.
Required Experience
  • Typically,this position requires evidence of success in level one machining duties for at least one year prior to promotion or hire.
  • 2-4 years of experience
Level of Education
  • High School diploma or GED is expected
