Job summary

Tribus Aerospace Corporation in Poway, CA is seeking a CNC Lathe Operator on second shift to support the lathe department, ensuring safe, efficient operation and on-time delivery of high-quality parts.

You will read blueprints, set up lathes, perform tool changes, inspect parts with precision instruments, and maintain tolerances while contributing to continuous improvement and safety practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC lathe experience required.
• Set up and operate lathe machines.
• Ability to produce first article inspection reports.
• Hold tight tolerances and ensure part quality.
• Knowledge of tool wear patterns and tool life management.
• Experience with minor G-code edits.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills.
• Ability to work independently on 2nd shift.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in basic shop arithmetic.
• Experience using G-codes.
• Awareness of safety and quality systems.
• Willingness to assist with various manufacturing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Lathe machine for the cutting of metallic materials.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches/shop drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Perform tool changes, offsets, and adjustments to maintain part quality.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other metrology tools.
• Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
• Tool life management.
• Make minor program edits if needed.
• Perform basic de-burr or rework of work in-process.
• Make recommendations to optimize and improve assigned processes.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform operator maintenance & other duties as assigned.
• Follow all safety and ITAR-related policies and procedures.
• Be willing to assist with a variety of tasks in manufacturing.

About the Role:

The purpose of this position is to support the CNC lathe department’s ability to achieve its goals and objectives. This includes the safe and efficient operation of a CNC lathe machine allowing for the achievement of customer expectations for quality and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and Operate CNC Lathe machine for the cutting of metallic materials.


• Interpret blueprints, sketches/shop drawings, and engineering specifications.


• Perform tool changes, offsets, and adjustments to maintain part quality.


• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other metrology tools.


• Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards.


• Tool life management.


• Make minor program edits if needed.


• Perform basic de-burr or rework of work in-process.


• Make recommendations to optimize and improve assigned processes.

• Perform all work according to Advanced Machining and Tooling safety standards and comply with all Advanced Machining and Tooling policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge and ability to produce 1st article inspection reports.


• Ability to hold tight tolerances.


• Knowledge of tool wear patterns and tool life management.


• Experience with making minor program edits.


• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and the ability to apply GD&T when needed.


• Ability to work independently on 2nd shift.


• High School Diploma or GED.


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


• Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic


• Experience using G-codes required


• Awareness of general safety, and quality systems.


• Willingness to assist with a variety of tasks in a manufacturing setting.

Nice to Have:

• Aerospace Experience.


• Experience with aerospace materials (Inconel, titanium, stainless).


• Ability to read, write and interpret written instructions, blueprints, shop drawings and engineering specifications.


• Experience with 3-axis machine set up.

Total Rewards Package

The hourly pay range for this position is $25 - $40 per hour (depending on experience). This is a permanent, non-exempt (hourly), full-time position.

Additionally, 2nd shift employees receive a 10% shift bonus as long as they work on 2nd shift.
