Job summary

Peninsula Iron Works, an Astec company based in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our machining team. This role sets up, operates and troubleshoots CNC mills and lathes to produce large, precision components that meet exact customer and engineering specifications.

Qualifications

• Experience reading complex blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal mills and CNC lathes.
• Load, verify, and run CNC programs while ensuring quality and production efficiency.
• Perform turning, milling, drilling, boring, reaming, tapping and related CNC operations.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments for dimensional accuracy.
• Make tool offsets and program adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and resolve setup or tooling problems.
• Maintain tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
• Complete production and inspection documentation accurately.
• Safely move and position large workpieces using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
