Job summary

Peninsula Iron Works, a long-standing leader in heavy industrial manufacturing based in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our machining team. This position focuses on setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC mills and lathes to produce large, precision components that meet exact customer specifications.

Qualifications

• Experience reading complex blueprints and GD&T.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators).
• Experience with tool offsets and CNC troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Fanuc or similar CNC controls preferred.
• Experience machining large industrial components is desirable.
• Overhead crane and rigging experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal mills and CNC lathes.
• Load, verify, and run CNC programs while ensuring quality and production efficiency.
• Perform turning, milling, drilling, boring, reaming, tapping, and related CNC processes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Make tool offsets and program adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and resolve setup or tooling problems.
• Maintain tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
• Complete production and inspection documentation accurately.
• Safely move and position large workpieces using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
• Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work area.
