Job description

Summary

CNC Machinist - Will work with all departments of the workshop to ensure accuracy of incoming and outgoing parts.

The right candidate will

  • Be a safety-minded worker who is drug-free and dependable with an excellent attendance record.
  • Report and/or correct all unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Report any safety incidents prior to the end of the shift.
  • Mentor other employees as needed.
  • Perform cleaning, grinding, painting, hydrostatic testing, hydraulic testing, flame testing, and all related tasks to buildings, equipment, components, sub-assemblies, and/or molds.
  • Plan/perform complex disassembly and assembly duties.
  • Perform complex maintenance and welding functions.
  • Perform clean up, removal of trash, coolant, oil, scrap, chips, etc.
  • Move equipment and parts using fork trucks, cranes, or other material handling equipment.
  • Assist other employees as directed by management or group leaders.
  • Complete forms, routers, and related paperwork.
  • Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Perform grit blasting, powder coating, operate the tool crib, and complete all related tasks.
  • Perform a variety of non-destructive tests; take measurements, record conformance/non-conformance, on initial piece, in process and upon final inspection.
  • Review procedures, layouts, templates, jigs, incoming parts, assemblies and related tasks.
  • Review and assist with the development of all job-related JSA's/Work Instructions.
  • Perform setup and operation of various machine tools producing various close tolerance parts.
  • All other assigned duties and tasks.

What you'll need

  • Hazard Recognition - knows/understands hazards of the job assignments before starting a job.
  • Communication - effectively communicates with other employees.
  • Advanced Measuring - use various complex measuring devices and gauges as required.
  • Blueprint Reading - interprets drawings.
  • Cranes - lifts equipment safely, knows where disconnect switches are, performs daily crane inspections, loads and unloads trucks, stages equipment.
  • Forklift - drive safely, load and unload, refuel, perform daily forklift inspections.
  • Advanced computer skills and machine tool technical knowledge.
  • Understand machining methods, tooling, cutting qualities of metal, etc.
  • Work from bills of material, purchasing lists, shipping documents, and parts/shop supplies.
  • Understand basic electroplating, HVOF principles, equipment, and chemical hazards.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Reading/Writing skills (literacy) as required.
  • Mathematics - knows advanced shop math and other functions necessary for the job.
  • Technical machine tool training and/or significant previous related machining experience.
  • Complete SMS group New Employee Orientation.
  • Complete OSHA General Industry 10 Hour Course.
  • Complete SMS group Crane and Rigging Training.
  • Complete SMS group Forklift Operator Training.
  • Complete Basic ISO Training.
  • Complete all training and education deemed necessary by management.
