Job Description

We are seeking a CNC Machinist Journeyman (with Journeyman papers) to join our federal team at our York, PA location. Our team at the Grantley Plant designs, develops, manufactures, ships, installs, and maintains industrial HVAC equipment for Navy vessels of all sizes. This role involves operating a CNC-controlled horizontal machining center with a rotary table and 14 feet of travel, equipped with a 100-position automatic tool changer, PC-based tool management/preset system, part probe, broken tool detection, adaptive control, horsepower monitor, and DNC linking.

Location: York, PA

Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday

Pay: $32.78 per hour

As a Machinist Journeyman, You Will:

  • Use tool preset machine, precision measuring instruments, hand and power tools, deburr tools, and appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Work from drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape program, instructions, or visual display units.
  • Perform fixture change-overs, load and unload production parts, perform on-line piece parts inspection, and manual data input to ensure specified finishes and tolerances.
  • Maintain tooling and backup tooling as necessary.
  • Monitor control messages and take corrective actions.
  • Perform utility functions to maintain the process.
  • Perform housekeeping and deburr internal to machining operations.
  • Fill out PM checklists and assist in machine PMs.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, gauges, hand tools, and tool setting equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to read shop prints, mathematics, handbook formulas, and use precision measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of CNC controlled machines and shop practices equivalent to 1-2 years of trades training.
  • Ability to set up and operate various tape-controlled milling and drilling machines, with judgment to plan and perform within prescribed quality and tolerances.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical effort, working continuously with light to average weight materials.
  • U.S. citizen.
  • Proof of a Journeyman's Certification is required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with setup and operation of CNC machines, preferably Horizontal Boring Mills, SNK, and Mori Seiki.
