Job Description

Position Title: CNC Machinist III (D Shift)

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Machinist opportunity with our client in Kent, WA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Setup, operate, and maintain world-class, state-of-the-art CNC machines to fabricate components for various spaceflight systems.
  • Share in the team’s impact on all aspects of CNC machining and fabrication.
  • Setting up and operating a variety of CNC machines and equipment to produce accurate components enabling first article success on tight tolerance, high-value parts.
  • Hands-on programming, setup, and machining of 3, 4, and 5-axis mills, multi-axis lathes, and development of critical machining processes.
  • Work with engineering to document and standardize production processes.
  • Partner with leadership and engineering to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.

Job Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in machining aerospace components.
  • Experience machining materials such as nickel-based stainless steel alloys (Inconel, Monel, etc.), Copper, Aluminum, and/or Titanium.
  • Extensive experience with CNC machines like Mazak, Kuraki, Hermle, OM, and/or DMG Mori.
  • Experience with 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machining on both mill and lathe machines (Horizontal, mill/turns).
  • Working knowledge of CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mazatrol.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
  • Familiarity with personal computers.
  • Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work in small/restricted areas, and lift/carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Tooling and fixture design.
  • Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) experience.
  • Knowledge of outside processing such as heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding.
  • CMM programming and operation experience.
  • CNC programming skills, preferably with Mastercam X6 to 2018 and/or Unigraphics NX.
  • Conversational programming on the machine.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment like cranes and forklifts.

Job Details:

  • Job Type: Contract
  • Location: Kent, WA
  • Pay Rate: $45.26/hr
  • ITAR obligations apply; U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(1), (3) is required.
