Job summary

H E Parts is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist in Evansville, IN to set up, program, and operate Mazak and Haas machines, producing precision parts per blueprints and specifications.

You will read drawings, verify tolerances with gauges, and perform first piece inspections while maintaining safety and efficiency in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of High School or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and workholding required.
  • Three (3)+ years of experience required setting up, operating, and programming CNC machine tools in a precision manufacturing or machining environment.
  • Physically ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
  • Two years professional training in a vocational institution or equivalent journey level experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safety – conduct all activities in a safe manner, utilizing PPE and adhering to company policy and alerting others regarding potential concerns.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations.
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
  • Set up and operate a variety of machine tools including computer numerical controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding and other operations.
  • Set up, program, and operate Mazak CNC lathes and machining centers using Mazatrol conversational programming and G code.
  • Perform first piece inspections and in-process dimensional checks using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, go/no-go gauges, and indicators.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as vertical Haas milling machines and Mazak horizontal milling machines.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Maintain close tolerances and verify finished parts meet quality and engineering requirements.

Job description

CNC Machinists set up and operate a variety of machine tools (lathes & mills) to cut or grind metal and similar materials into parts or products with precise dimensions. Machinists fabricate parts and/or repair parts for mining or heavy construction equipment, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Machinists study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate parts, and determine part dimensions and tolerances.
