Position Summary

The Machinist II is qualified to operate CNC machines independently with minimal assistance. They will make minor adjustments and work with senior Machinists on major adjustments.

Essential Functions
  1. Observe CNC machine operation, verify workpiece conformance, and visually inspect parts.
  2. Read and interpret work instructions, specifications, and tooling instructions.
  3. Follow standard operating procedures systematically.
  4. Use measuring devices to ensure quality, troubleshoot issues, or consult with senior staff when needed.
  5. Submit engineering change requests for evaluation.
  6. Interpret CMM reports and make necessary offsets.
  7. Maintain production across multiple machines.
  8. Set offsets after basic tool setting processes.
  9. Interpret CNC programs including units, tools, speeds, feeds, and movements.
  10. Perform preventive maintenance and report production results accurately.
  11. Report scrap and manage reject areas.
  12. Maintain housekeeping and follow safety policies.
  13. Meet production standards and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Basic math skills: operations, conversions, percentages.
  • Basic computer skills and data entry.
  • Ability to verify setup and operation of measuring gauges.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings, including GD&T.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred 3 years in manufacturing machining or vocational schooling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and tooling issues.
Physical Requirements
  • Light physical effort, including lifting lightweight materials.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and walk to operate machines.
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
