API Delevan, Inc. in Simi Valley, CA is seeking a CNC Lathe machinist to set up, operate and adjust CNC Lathe machines to produce parts per drawings and written instructions. You will read blueprints and verify first article parts.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of CNC lathe setup experience, can maintain tight tolerances of .0005 inID and profile, inspect parts, and contribute to continuous improvement. AS9100/5S/Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of CNC lathe setup experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Maintain close tolerances within .0005 inches.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and inserts.
• Experience with AS9100, Lean and Six Sigma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete setups with general supervision.
• Handle all phases of part operation setup to achieve first article acceptance.
• Perform in-process quality inspections and record results.
• Identify process improvements to reduce variation.
• Continuously improve processes and reduce waste.
• Train less experienced machinists if needed.

Job description

Come join our team here in Simi Valley, California. Expected Salary: $25.00 to $31.00 per hour

Brief Description

CNC Lathe machinist is responsible for producing work in the most efficient manner while meeting the drawing/planning specification /requirements. Under general supervision, sets-up, operates, and adjusts CNC Lathe machines. Works from drawings and written instructions to create parts. Able to read and interpret CNC programs. May need to make offsets to programs on CNC Machines. Requires knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in the machining process. May assist and train less experienced machinists.

Key Accountabilities

• Completes set-ups with general supervision/assistance.
• Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance.
• Perform and maintain accurate in-process quality inspection and records.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to reduce part quality variation.
• Continuously improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desirable Experience and Capabilities

At least three to five (3-5) years experience in operation set-up on CNC Lathe equipment.

Skilled in the use of indicator, gage, dial bores, and plate inspection methods for first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.

Ability to maintain close tolerances (within .0005”) of ID’s, hold .0005 profile, roundness.

Knowledge of cutting tools feeds, speeds, and inserts tool life for aerospace machining.

Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blue print and quality requirements.

Ability to communicate with employees and management in a positive manner.

Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs. with assistance).

Ideal candidate will have experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
