API Delevan, Inc. in Simi Valley, California is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist. The role involves setting up and operating CNC Lathe equipment to produce parts per drawings and specifications.

You will perform first article and in-process inspections, adjust programs as needed, and collaborate with team members to reduce variability and waste. The position requires 3–5 years of lathe operation, the ability to read blueprints, and maintaining tight tolerances (within .0005”).

Qualifications

3–5 years of CNC lathe operation set‑up experience.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and quality requirements.
Maintain close tolerances within .0005” and hold .0005 profile/roundness.
Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and insert tool life for aerospace machining.
Follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively with team and management.
Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs and performing tasks safely.
Experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma is desirable.

Brief Description

CNC Lathe machinist is responsible for producing work in the most efficient manner while meeting the drawing/planning specification /requirements. Under general supervision, sets-up, operates, and adjusts CNC Lathe machines. Works from drawings and written instructions to create parts. Able to read and interpret CNC programs. May need to make offsets to programs on CNC Machines. Requires knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in the machining process. May assist and train less experienced machinists.

Key Accountabilities

Completes set-ups with general supervision/assistance.
Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance.
Perform and maintain accurate in-process quality inspection and records.
Identify and recommend process improvements to reduce part quality variation.
Continuously improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desirable Experience and Capabilities

At least three to five (3-5) years experience in operation set-up on CNC Lathe equipment.

Skilled in the use of indicator, gage, dial bores, and plate inspection methods for first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.

Ability to maintain close tolerances (within .0005”) of ID’s, hold .0005 profile, roundness.

Knowledge of cutting tools feeds, speeds, and inserts tool life for aerospace machining.

Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blue print and quality requirements.

Ability to communicate with employees and management in a positive manner.

Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs. with assistance).

Ideal candidate will have experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
