Prototek is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist II to join our manufacturing team on the 1st shift. This role involves setting up and operating multiple CNC machines, performing multi-axis machining, and reading complex blueprints with GD&T requirements.

You will produce high-quality parts, apply precise measurement techniques, and contribute to tooling and fixturing optimization in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of relevant set-up and programming experience and a machinist

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant set-up and programming experience in machining industries (aerospace/defense/medical/robotics).
• Advanced knowledge of mill and/or lathe concepts.
• Experience with complex fixturing techniques (building and optimizing tooling).
• Strong blueprint reading, GD&T, and tight tolerance machining experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multiple CNC machines.
• Perform multi-axis machining, including 3+1 and 3+2 indexing.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T requirements.
• Machine parts to tight tolerance specifications and determine acceptable surface finishes.
• Apply advanced milling and lathe concepts to improve machining efficiency.

QUICK SUMMARY

Prototek is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist II to join our manufacturing team. This position is ideal for a machinist who has progressed beyond the CNC Machinist I level and is comfortable with intermediate to complex machining, CNC setups, program modifications, and multi-axis machining.

The CNC Machinist II will produce accurate, high-quality parts while applying strong machining, blueprint reading, measurement, and problem-solving skills. This role also provides an opportunity to support less experienced machinists, improve machining processes, and optimize tooling and fixturing in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate multiple CNC machines
• Perform multi-axis machining, including 3+1 and/or 3+2 indexing
• Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T requirements
• Machine parts to tight tolerance specifications and determine acceptable surface finishes
• Apply advanced mill and/or lathe concepts to improve machining efficiency

REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma required | 2-year Machining Degree preferred
• 2+ years of relevant set-up and programming experience in a related industry (Aerospace, defense, medical, robotics or industrial)
• Advanced knowledge of mill and/or lathe machining concepts
• Experience with complex fixturing techniques (building and optimize tooling)
• Basic computer literacy, including Mastercam or related CAM software
• Proficient complex blueprint reading, GD&T, and tight tolerance machining experience
• Strong knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics, measurement, and material properties
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong attention to detail
