Prototek Digital Manufacturing in Rancho Cordova, CA is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist III for 1st shift to perform advanced machining and programming of high-precision components for aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial applications.

You will work with Mastercam and related CAM software, read complex prints with GD&T, and execute multifaceted machining strategies with minimal supervision, contributing to fixture design, process improvements, and project planning.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required / 2-year Machining Degree preferred.
• 5+ years of CNC set-up and programming experience.
• 2 years of Mastercam or related CAM software experience.
• Proficient 2D/3D programming and multi-axis machining experience.
• Strong knowledge of fixturing, blueprint reading, GD&T, and high-tolerance machining.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform advanced machining and programming
• Program, set up, and operate CNC equipment for complex jobs
• Perform multi-axis machining including 3+1 and 3+2 indexing
• Apply 5th-axis machining concepts
• Read and interpret prints, GD&T, and tight-tolerance specs
• Use Mastercam or related CAM software for CNC programming
• Organize and manage multiple machining projects with minimal supervision

PAY RANGE: $38 - $48 | SHIFT: 1st Shift (M-F 6:30am – 3:00pm)

QUICK SUMMARY

Prototek is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist III to perform advanced machining and programming for complex, high-precision components. This role is ideal for a highly skilled machinist who can independently execute multifaceted machining strategies with minimal technical assistance and serve as a technical resource for less experienced machinists.

You’ll work on precision components for industries including aerospace, defense, medical, robotics, and industrial applications, while contributing to fixture design, process improvement, equipment evaluation, and project planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Independently perform advanced machining and programming activities
• Program, set up, and operate CNC equipment for complex, multifaceted jobs
• Perform multi-axis machining, including 3+1 and 3+2 indexing
• Apply basic true 5th-axis machining concepts
• Read and interpret complex prints, GD&T, and tight-tolerance requirements
• Use Mastercam or related CAM software for CNC programming
• Organize and manage multiple machining projects with minimal supervision
• Apply advanced mill and/or lathe concepts to improve machining efficiency

REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma required / 2-year Machining Degree preferred
• 5+ years of relevant CNC set-up and programming experience
• 2 years of Mastercam or related CAM software experience
• Proficient 2D/3D programming and multi-axis machining experience
• Strong knowledge of complex fixturing, blueprint reading, GD&T, and high-tolerance machining
• Strong understanding of shop mechanics, mathematics, measurement, and material properties
• Strong attention to detail
• Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience preferred
