Duties And Responsibilities

This role focuses on the setup and operation of various machines according to customer and work instruction specifications for product production.

• Efficiently set up and operate machines for production runs of products.
• Ensure proper tooling and computer programs are installed for jobs.
• Adjust machine feed & speed, change tooling, or modify machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or machines malfunction.
• Monitor machine during production and adjust programs as necessary.
• Calculate machine speed, feed ratio, and the size and position of cuts.
• Use precision measuring instruments and hand tools to verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
• Prioritize work according to the production schedule.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area.
• Wear proper PPE while in the shop's work areas.
• Manage waste responsibly by utilizing proper containers and participating in recycling programs.
• Promote energy conservation.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental and company objectives.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Candidate Requirements:

• Require the use of shop mathematics, engineering drawings, specifications, and various precision measuring instruments.
• Require judgment to plan, perform, and decide on the sequence of set-ups, operations, and processes within established or standard methods and procedures.
• Constant alertness and continuous mental and visual attention are required to monitor machining processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent, with one to three years of specialized training in machining trades.
• Minimum of one to three years of specific mill experience required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 35 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, approximately 2 hours.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
