Job summary

FEUER Powertrain North America, Inc. in Mississippi seeks a CNC Machinist I to produce high-precision components and lead CNC Staff. You will adjust operations, oversee changeovers, perform basic maintenance, and support quality control with CMM and lab feedback.

The role requires reading blueprints, GD&T, and tight tolerance checks, plus familiarity with measuring tools and safe shop practices. A strong work ethic and reliable teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2-year certificate in machining or metalworking.
• 2+ years of machining experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and basic GD&T.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Reliable and self-starting with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CNC machine operations and guide operator staff.
• Complete CNC machine changeovers for new batches.
• Perform basic machine maintenance as needed.
• Monitor tool condition and replace worn/broken tools.
• Facilitate CMM and lab inspections per plan.
• Carry out manual inspections with measurement tools.
• Make basic CNC program adjustments from inspection results.
• Monitor and refill CNC fluids daily.
• Clear chips and load/unload materials as needed.
• Visually inspect parts and perform deburring when required.
• Maintain clean, orderly work area and quarantine nonconforming material.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The CNC Machinist I produces high-quality precision machined components and provides direction to CNC Operator staff. This self-starting role is primarily responsible for monitoring and adjusting CNC machining operations to maintain strict quality control standards using inspection results from CMM / Metallurgical lab and direct manual measurements. Additional responsibilities include machine changeover for new batches of existing products and basic machine maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor CNC machine operations and provide direction to CNC Operator level staff
• Complete the changeover of CNC machines and achieve production release for new batches of existing products
• Perform basic machine maintenance as needed
• Monitor tool condition visually and by automated CNC machine cycle count
• Change tools when they are worn / broken visually or as prompted automatically by the CNC machine
• When tools are broken, remove from the parts and re-insert into process
• Facilitate CMM and Metallurgical Lab inspections as required by the Control Plan
• Complete manual inspections as required by the Control Plan with micrometers, calipers, gages, etc.
• Make basic CNC program adjustments based on inspection results to ensure consistent part quality
• Monitor and refill CNC machine fluids daily
• Clear chips from the machine daily
• Load and unload raw materials and finished components from CNC machines as necessary
• Visually inspect parts to ensure consistent part quality, deburring parts when necessary
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Tag and quarantine non-conforming material when it is found, backtracking as necessary to contain issues
• Read and understand blueprints, work instructions, and basic GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2yr certificate in machining or metalworking program
• 2+ years experience in a machining environment
• Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and basic technical documents
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and gages
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
• Reliable and self-starting with a strong ethical and moral basis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Formal or practical (on-the-job) training in basic GD&T concepts
• Experience in automotive or powertrain manufacturing environments
• Experience with Siemens 840D interface

PHYSICAL/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand, walk, and wear PPE for extended periods during scheduled shifts
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, grip, and lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis
