Job description

CNC Machinist (Finish Mills) + 2nd or 3rd Shift Pay

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibility: Responsible for running finish milling operations on a Finish Mill.

  1. Perform finish milling, drilling and tapping to final dimensions as specified on the engineering drawings and standard procedures.
  2. Set up milling machine as required to perform individual finish operations.
  3. Maintain all oil levels and lubricate machine daily. Inform supervisor of any equipment defects.
  4. Set correct feeds and speeds as required for milling, drilling and tapping of different types of material.
  5. Deburr and polish finished product as required.
  6. Record time accurately for each operation performed using established system.
  7. Move completed work to proper holding area for disposition following Quality at the Source expectations.
  8. Maintain neat and clean working area, including the removal and disposal of machined chips from machine base.

Candidate Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education/Experience:
    High school education with one to three years specialized training in the machining trades.
    Minimum one to three years of specific mill experience is required.
  2. Other Candidate Qualifications:
    Requires the use of shop mathematics together with engineering drawings, specifications, and various types of precision measuring instruments.
    Requires the use of judgement to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of established or standard methods and procedures.
    Constant alertness and continuous mental and visual attention required to monitor machining process.
