Job summary

Boyd Thermal, now part of Eaton, seeks a CNC Machinist in Lancaster, PA to set up and operate CNC Machining Centers. You will load and run programs, inspect first articles, deburr, and maintain tooling and fixtures according to blueprints.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, 2+ years in metalworking CNC environment, and strong measuring skills. On-site position with routine maintenance responsibilities and adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED; trade school or apprenticeship preferred or 2+ years in metalworking CNC environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/manufacture instructions, and procedures; communicate with coworkers.
  • Understand geometry; calculate feeds, speeds, and machine offsets.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and fixturing challenges; apply common sense with equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC Machining Centers for single parts and production runs from drawings.
  • Submit first article parts to QC and adjust programs accordingly.
  • Use band saws and basic hand tools to prepare parts.
  • Change dull tooling and adjust machine offsets.
  • Measure parts with micrometers, calipers, and gauges; document findings.
  • Deburr and clean parts to customer specifications; maintain a clean work area.
  • Provide routine maintenance on CNC Machining Centers.

Job Description SUMMARY Sets Up and Operates CNC Machining Centers to produce parts to Customer Specifications. Loads and Runs as well as modifies CNC programs. De-Burrs parts and cleans as time allows. Inputs Simple Programs at the Operator panel and Loads and Off-Loads Production Programs. Creates Fixtures for Production Parts as necessary. Performs routine maintenance on Machining Centers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Using written and verbal instructions and working from Blueprints Sets Up CNC Machining Centers for single parts and production runs.
  • Submits First Article Parts to QC and analyses Inspection reports to adjust programs and set ups to produce an acceptable part.
  • Use Band Saws and simple tools such as Hex Wrenches, Screw Drivers and Soft Hammers.
  • Changes Dull Tooling and adjusts Machine Offsets.
  • Checks Part Dimensions using Micrometers, Gage Pins Vernier Calipers, Drop Indicators, Comparators, Thread Gages and Various other Precision Tools.
  • Records these Measurements as necessary on the Part Traveler.
  • De-Burrs Parts to Customer Specifications and cleans the parts as necessary.
  • Maintains a Clean Work Environment.
  • Provide routine Maintenance on CNC Machining Centers.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Trade School or Apprenticeship Program preferred or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Metalworking CNC Environment.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively to co-workers through Verbal and written communications as well as other employees of the organization. Ability to draft Work Instructions Using Microsoft Word.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate Machine Offsets using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. A good understanding of Geometry and the ability to calculate angles. Ability to Calculate Feeds and Speeds as they relate to the Material being cut.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems as well as Complex Fixturing problems. Ability to apply common sense when using equipment and making decisions.
