Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a skilled 3-Axis CNC Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling machines used in manufacturing precision aerospace components. The ideal candidate will interpret blueprints, select tooling, and ensure parts meet engineering standards.

Requirements include a minimum of 3 years of CNC experience, familiarity with 3-axis machines, and GD&T proficiency. Aerospace experience is preferred. On-site role in Midland, TX.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience operating and setting up 3-axis CNC milling machines.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
• Aerospace or precision manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience editing CNC programs at the machine is a plus.
• Familiarity with Haas, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls.
• Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled 3-Axis CNC Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling machines used in the manufacturing of precision aerospace components and tooling. The ideal candidate will possess strong machining fundamentals, blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to produce high-quality parts while maintaining production efficiency and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Select tooling, fixtures, cutting speeds, and feeds for machining operations.
• Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and machine adjustments.
• Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Verify product quality and ensure compliance with engineering requirements.
• Troubleshoot machining and setup issues.
• Monitor machine operation and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Perform minor machine maintenance and routine preventative maintenance.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Follow all company safety and quality procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Machining certificate or technical training preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience.
• Experience operating and setting up 3-axis CNC milling machines.
• Experience working from engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Aerospace or precision manufacturing experience.
• Experience editing CNC programs at the machine.
• Familiarity with Haas, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls.
• Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium materials.
