Machinist Position Summary:

Without assistance machinists demonstrate the ability to set up, run and trouble shoot all site-specific CNC and conventional machines and machining processes. They are also able to design and manufacture complex tooling. Leadership and mentoring skills are also expected of level four machinists. Typically, 5+ years of experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
  • Review shop traveler to verify that prior operations have been completed before starting process.
  • Read shop traveler or blueprint to determine specified requirements, tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup.
  • Set up and operate numerical control machine tools that automatically drill and ream metal parts and turn parts.
  • Capable of calling, reading and modifying CNC programs
  • May adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machine malfunctions.
  • Follow standard procedures to check, test, login, logout, and run good quality parts, coordinating with the department supervisor or lead person during the process.
  • Train other employees to setup and program CNC assets
  • Understand production goals and capable of scheduling/ progressing work in accordance with goals.
  • Review and improve existing programs
  • Support new product introduction
  • Improve existing tool life through program optimization.

Required Skills:

  • The ability to read and write English.
  • Strong understanding in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.
  • Knowledge of inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, etc.
  • Knowledge of machine tools such as wrenches, part chucks, collets etc.
  • Strong understanding of Mastercam programming
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading competencies.
  • The ability tointerpret written instructions on shop travelers.
  • Capable of setting up and running parts as required.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience.

Level of Education:

  • GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $25.50 to $38.25 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 69 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
