An exciting opportunity exists at Barnes for a CNC Machinist. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various day-to-day functions, from set-up and loading to operating machinery efficiently. They will ensure the machine's performance supports production according to specifications, processes, and procedures in a manufacturing environment. Ensuring all parts fit correctly and are suitable for final product is essential.
Core Responsibilities:
- Set up and produce machined parts on various machines (e.g., Mazak, Haas, JohnFord, Mori-Seiki, Okuma) following documented procedures.
- Identify and load correct programs, fixtures, and tooling.
- Ensure quality parts are produced to engineering specifications.
- Verify setup through measurement of first-run parts and sample workpieces.
- Inspect parts and maintain quality records as per work instructions.
- Maintain equipment and supplies in work areas.
- Inspect tools for wear or breakage and replace as needed.
- Adjust zero shift or references, set tool registers, and offsets.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and call for repairs when necessary.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and needs across shifts.
- Notify supervisors of product discrepancies or equipment issues.
- Follow company policies, including safety regulations, and wear PPE as trained.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Experience with mechanical skills, including power tools and industrial vehicles.
- Knowledge of computers, CNC machines, programming, and computer-aided manufacturing.
- Experience editing G-code for efficiency is preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Mechanical inclination and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, with good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding and compliance with safety standards.
- Basic math skills and experience with measuring tools.
- Knowledge of tolerances on blueprints.
- Physical dexterity.
- Good computer skills.
- Familiarity with multi-spindle/multi-turret machines is a plus.
- 5-7 years of related experience.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Trade school or journeyman experience preferred.
- 2+ years of CNC setup and operation experience in manufacturing required.
