Job summary

Saint-Gobain/CertainTeed seeks an experienced CNC technician in Travelers Rest, SC to set up and operate CNC machines, edit CNC programs, and inspect parts to exact specifications. You will review orders, secure materials, and maintain equipment while meeting production schedules.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, hands-on CNC experience, and the ability to read blueprints. Safety and accuracy are essential; a team-focused environment supports continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of CNC setup/operations and editing CNC programs required.
• Knowledge of machining techniques with a high degree of difficulty.
• Experience programming and operating Multus is required.
• Knowledge of Doosan, Haas, Hardinge, Captain and LB4000 is desired.
• Ability to meet deadlines and production schedules for quality products.
• Experience operating CNC metal fabricating machines (lathes, drills, grinders) desired.
• Ability to read/work orders, blueprints, specs; shop math and measuring instruments.
• Adherence to Quality Policy and SOPs is essential.
• Motivated, focused, safe work habits and good housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines, making adjustments as needed.
• Perform own inspections (visual, optical, micrometer, verniers, indicators).
• Process parts as needed, including samples.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools common to the trade.
• Maintain accurate records and logs of processes, materials and results.
• Ensure tools and machines are clean and maintained.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear protective equipment.

Set up and operate CNC Machines and edit CNC programs. Applies general knowledge of machining techniques and methods to ensure that machines are operating correctly and that machined parts are cut to specifications. Uses precision measuring instruments to confirm conformity to order.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• A High School diploma or its equivalency is required, technical school training, apprenticeship program or equivalent.
• In depth knowledge of set up and operations of CNC Machines and editing CNC programs required.
• Knowledge of machining techniques with high degree of difficulties.
• Experience programming and operating the Multus is required.
• Knowledge of operation of a Doosan, Haas, Hardinge, Captain and LB4000 desired.
• Must be able to work with deadlines and production schedules to assure a quality product is delivered on time to the customers.
• Successful work experience operating CNC metal fabricating machines (lathes, drills, grinders, etc.) desired.
• Candidate must possess skill and knowledge in the set-up, adjustment and operation of machine shop equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, charts and blueprints and specifications, as well as skill and knowledge necessary in utilizing shop math and measuring instruments is required.
• Adherence to Quality Policy and Standard Operating Procedures and knowledge of those procedures will be a part of the daily process.
• Must be motivated, focused, and clear thinking. Ability to work safely and utilize good housekeeping is mandatory.
