Job description

Job Overview

Machining Floater - 2nd shift operating a braze technician role in the machine shop at Maag Gala Inc., located in Eagle Rock, VA. Full‑time, FLSA Class, reports to Machine Shop Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including manual machines on the shop floor.
• Establish zero and reference points for each part.
• Understand work holding systems with manual and automated machines.
• Read and use measuring tools such as micrometers, depth micrometers, and calipers.
• Work from set‑up sheets from programmers.
• Efficiently use each machine on the floor.
• Install machining programs into the machine.
• Send correct offsets to each tool being used.
• Monitor and replace worn tools as needed.
• Dimensionally and visually inspect the product to ensure it meets all print and customer requirements.
• Other tasks as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical skills a plus). Machining Fundamentals I & II course available after hire.
• Desirable: Machinist / Tool Maker apprenticeship card (e.g., journeyman) and technical training/certifications.

Professional Experience

• Mandatory: Machining/manufacturing background related to the position.
• Desirable: CNC programming/set‑up/operation, wire and plunge EDM experience, certificate in machining.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Machine shop environment with exposure to airborne particles, metal shavings, sharp cutting tools, moving mechanical parts; PPE and hearing protection required, including steel‑toed shoes.

Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

Monday to Thursday 2‑shift; possible weekends or holidays as needed.
